Alright, I'm single, late 50s, and The median home value here is around $617,100, which is pretty steep. Rent is about $3,005/month for a decent place. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. What are your go-to spots? Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. The food scene here is surprisingly good.

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, I love the pace of life here. Good luck with whatever you decide..

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.
Background: I'm a marketing manager, 42, moved here 9 years ago from Baltimore. I've lived in Riverside and Pine Hills, and traveled to most parts of the metro.
**What I love:**
1. Friendly community, easy to meet people
2. Good schools in most areas
3. Close to major attractions
4. The people are generally excellent - I found my community within the first year
**What I don't love:**
1. Rising rent and home prices
2. Road conditions need improvement
3. The dating scene situation is established and doesn't seem to be improving
**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Riverside: Great for couples. underrated vibes, walkable.
- Pine Hills: More affordable, family-friendly.
**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.
**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Baltimore, everything felt excellent. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are stable. Gas is reasonable. You can live comfortably on $100K-$110K here.
**Final verdict:**
Good luck with whatever you decide.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

Bought a house here in 2016 and I have mixed feelings honestly. Property values have gone up a bit since then.

As someone who grew up here, it's improved dramatically in recent years. A lot has changed in the past few years though. pet-friendliness used to be much pricey but now it's hit or miss.

I've been living here for 5 years and I'd say it exceeded my expectations. The public transit is tough compared to other places I've lived. Overall It's not for everyone but it works for us..

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. it's not perfect but it works for me. Internet is challenging in most areas.
