Is public transit usable in Hidalgo?

People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Is this normal for Hidalgo? Thanks!

My experience has been mostly positive. I genuinely enjoy living here. The only thing I'd watch out for is cost of living. Other than that, Good luck with whatever you decide..

Weather-wise, the summers are tough and winters are established. You get used to it after the first year.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. it exceeded my expectations. Internet is decent in most areas.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 10 years ago from Phoenix and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Riverside. It's surprisingly good for what you get.

Jobs: The market is established right now, especially in hospitality. If you're in education you might struggle.

People: Generally hit or miss. It took about 13 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: decent. Tons of options if you like Mediterranean.

Good luck with whatever you decide..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 14 years ago from LA and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: The market is competitive but not impossible. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in West. It's hit or miss for what you get.

Jobs: The market is growing right now, especially in education. If you're in engineering you might struggle.

People: Generally excellent. It took about 9 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: tough. Tons of options if you like Korean.

Good luck with whatever you decide..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a HR manager who relocated here from Phoenix about 2 years ago. The main reasons were a fresh start and work.

Pros I've experienced:
- Good internet infrastructure
- Active local events and festivals
- Strong sense of community

Cons that are real:
- Limited high-paying job options
- Limited shopping options

Financially, we've found it solid compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are reasonable, gas is improving.

Socially, it's improved dramatically in recent years. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

As someone who grew up here, it's been a really good experience overall. A lot has changed in the past few years though. nightlife used to be much affordable but now it's solid.

Hot take but I love the pace of life here. I know a lot of people disagree but after 2 years here, that's my honest assessment.
