Curious what people think. Military spouse here. It's a a small town city with about 14,250 people. You can expect to pay around $849 for rent here. The median home value here is around $156,400, which is actually reasonable. Rent is about $849/month for a decent place. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Does this match your experience? Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. The food scene here is surprisingly good. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The weather takes some getting used to.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a data analyst who relocated here from New York about 13 years ago. The main reasons were quality of life and cost of living.
Pros I've experienced:
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Decent public transit for the size
- Lots of family-friendly activities
Cons that are real:
- Winters are long and cold
- Road conditions need improvement
Financially, we've found it hit or miss compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are manageable, gas is solid.
Socially, the quality of life is solid. Good luck with whatever you decide..

Hot take but I'm still on the fence after all this time. I know a lot of people disagree but after 11 years here, that's my honest assessment.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.
Background: I'm a writer, 58, moved here 10 years ago from Tampa. I've lived in Westside and Meadowbrook, and traveled to most parts of the metro.
**What I love:**
1. Nice parks and green spaces
2. Affordable housing options
3. Diverse dining options
4. The people are generally hit or miss - I found my community within the first year
**What I don't love:**
1. Urban sprawl is real
2. Limited high-paying job options
3. The housing market situation is reasonable and doesn't seem to be improving
**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Westside: Great for couples. tough vibes, walkable.
- Meadowbrook: More affordable, family-friendly.
**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.
**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Tampa, everything felt average. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are competitive. Gas is pricey. You can live comfortably on $100K-$80K here.
**Final verdict:**
No regrets on my end.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a accountant who relocated here from Miami about 10 years ago. The main reasons were quality of life and a job opportunity.
Pros I've experienced:
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Decent public transit for the size
- Four distinct seasons
Cons that are real:
- Nightlife is limited
- Homeless population growing downtown
Financially, we've found it pretty good compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are stable, gas is decent.
Socially, it's not perfect but it works for me. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem challenging.
I've been here 5 years and the quality of life is solid. The thing nobody mentions is job market. It's developing and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the traffic is legit. And if you're into mountain biking, this place is underrated.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Meadowbrook side vs the Riverside side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Definitely worth checking out..

Hot take but it's been a really good experience overall. I know a lot of people disagree but after 2 years here, that's my honest assessment.
