Higganum quality of life -am I missing something?

So, I'm a college student here and You can expect to pay around $1,568 for rent here. With a population of 1,549, Higganum is a small town. Average temperature is around 52--F, so expect cold winters. Rent is about $1,568/month for a decent place. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The suburbs are where most families end up. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The food scene here is surprisingly good. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that.

Bought a house here in 2015 and I have mixed feelings honestly. Property values have gone up a bit since then.

Weather-wise, the summers are better than expected and winters are manageable. You get used to it after the first year.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a physical therapist who relocated here from Dallas about 6 years ago. The main reasons were retirement and cost of living.

Pros I've experienced:
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Good internet infrastructure
- Strong sense of community

Cons that are real:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Dating scene is rough

Financially, we've found it excellent compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are established, gas is surprisingly good.

Socially, the quality of life is solid. Feel free to reach out with questions..
