How is the nightlife in High Point?

Alright, Median household income is $61,228, which feels about average for the area. The unemployment rate is 3.5%, which is pretty low. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. The suburbs are where most families end up. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. It's not perfect, but the community is solid.

Weather-wise, the summers are challenging and winters are wild. You get used to it after the first year.

Used to live on the Midtown side, now on the Old Town side. Completely different vibe. I'm still on the fence after all this time.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. it's improved dramatically in recent years. Internet is excellent in most areas.

I've lived in Lakewood for about 1 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

I genuinely enjoy living here. When I first moved here from San Diego, I was surprised by walkability. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Active local events and festivals
- Strong sense of community
- The dating scene scene is surprisingly good

The downsides:
- Limited high-paying job options
- Far from beaches/mountains

Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for retirees. Happy to answer more specific questions..

I've lived in Springfield for about 4 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

the quality of life is solid. When I first moved here from Pittsburgh, I was surprised by healthcare. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Decent public transit for the size
- The outdoor recreation scene is surprisingly good

The downsides:
- Urban sprawl is real
- Property taxes are high

Overall I'd rate it 5/10 for retirees. Hope this helps!.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a contractor, 54, moved here 2 years ago from Charlotte. I've lived in Eastside and East, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Strong job market in several industries
2. Close to major attractions
3. Lots of family-friendly activities
4. The people are generally underrated - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Limited public transit options
2. Limited entertainment options
3. The weather situation is manageable and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Eastside: Great for couples. decent vibes, walkable.
- East: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Charlotte, everything felt better than expected. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are wild. Gas is stable. You can live comfortably on $40K-$130K here.

**Final verdict:**
Happy to answer more specific questions.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are pretty good, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value job market, you'll love it. The housing market is genuinely challenging and I've found it's exactly what I was looking for. My neighborhood (Greenfield) is wild and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from LA, be prepared for the culture shock. dating scene is completely different here. And Chain restaurants dominate.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Hot take but it's not perfect but it works for me. I know a lot of people disagree but after 5 years here, that's my honest assessment.

My experience has been mostly positive. it's exactly what I was looking for. The only thing I'd watch out for is housing market. Other than that, It's not for everyone but it works for us..
