Moving to High Point -what should I know?

Crime rate is something to consider -High Point sits at 730.8 per 100K. Rent is about $1,062/month for a decent place. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. The suburbs are where most families end up. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Weather-wise, the summers are excellent and winters are affordable. You get used to it after the first year.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a HR manager who relocated here from Miami about 4 years ago. The main reasons were family and quality of life.

Pros I've experienced:
- Decent public transit for the size
- Good internet infrastructure
- Close to major attractions

Cons that are real:
- Not very walkable outside downtown
- Limited shopping options

Financially, we've found it pretty good compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are reasonable, gas is better than expected.

Socially, I have mixed feelings honestly. Hope this helps!.

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, I'm still on the fence after all this time. Feel free to reach out with questions..

I've lived in Meadowbrook for about 13 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

I genuinely enjoy living here. When I first moved here from Charlotte, I was surprised by cost of living. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Four distinct seasons
- The healthcare scene is hit or miss

The downsides:
- Nightlife is limited
- Chain restaurants dominate

Overall I'd rate it 6/10 for retirees. Definitely worth checking out..

We moved here with our family and it was the best decision I ever made. Schools in Oak Park area are decent. Kids love it here.
