Random thought, We're a young couple and Rent is about $1,539/month for a decent place. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Cheers. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem better than expected.
I've been here 14 years and it was the best decision I ever made. The thing nobody mentions is job market. It's reasonable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the dating scene is legit. And if you're into running, this place is better than expected.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Downtown side vs the Westside side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Definitely worth checking out..

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.
Background: I'm a writer, 35, moved here 7 years ago from Austin. I've lived in East and The Heights, and traveled to most parts of the metro.
**What I love:**
1. Lots of new development happening
2. Close to major attractions
3. Diverse dining options
4. The people are generally excellent - I found my community within the first year
**What I don't love:**
1. Nightlife is limited
2. Limited entertainment options
3. The community vibe situation is growing and doesn't seem to be improving
**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- East: Great for young professionals. improving vibes, walkable.
- The Heights: More affordable, family-friendly.
**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.
**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Austin, everything felt challenging. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are pricey. Gas is growing. You can live comfortably on $40K-$140K here.
