Is Highland a good place to live?

Been meaning to ask this. Been living here since 2017. Household incomes average around $77,979 in Highland. The unemployment rate is 3.4%, which is pretty low. It's a a smaller city city with about 56,690 people. The median home value here is around $455,200, which is pretty steep. With a population of 56,690, Highland is a smaller city. The city has invested a lot in new development. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus.

Pros:
- Friendly people
- Low crime in most areas
- Good airport connections

Cons:
- Cold winters
- Rising rent prices
- Sprawl everywhere
- Limited dining options
- Poor road conditions
Does this match your experience? The suburbs are where most families end up. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. I've lived in Pine Hills for about 10 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it's not perfect but it works for me. When I first moved here from Nashville, I was surprised by nightlife. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Good schools in most areas
- Affordable housing options
- The outdoor recreation scene is average

The downsides:
- Property taxes are high
- Not a lot of cultural diversity

Overall I'd rate it 6/10 for singles. Definitely worth checking out..

Bought a house here in 2017 and it's been a really good experience overall. Property values have gone up significantly since then.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in Uptown for 9 years. Moved from San Francisco for school. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is surprisingly good. We bought in 2019 at k and it's now worth about the same than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 4-bed in a safe area. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals.

**Employment:**
healthcare is strong here. government is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are pricey for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The outdoor scene is better than expected - we have lakes within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Uptown schools are hit or miss. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Winters are long and cold. Road conditions need improvement. And school system can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For couples, I'd say this is a 7/10. Hope this helps!. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

I've lived in West for about 4 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

the quality of life is solid. When I first moved here from Raleigh, I was surprised by job market. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Good schools in most areas
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- The cultural scene scene is better than expected

The downsides:
- Can feel isolated
- Dating scene is rough

Overall I'd rate it 7/10 for young professionals. No regrets on my end..
