Life in Highland as a young professional

So, You can expect to pay around $1,539 for rent here. Household incomes average around $77,979 in Highland. Rent is about $1,539/month for a decent place. The median home value here is around $455,200, which is pretty steep. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. The suburbs are where most families end up. Am I wrong here? It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. The city has invested a lot in new development. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. it exceeded my expectations. Internet is hit or miss in most areas.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value dating scene, you'll love it. The public transit is genuinely excellent and I've found it's exactly what I was looking for. My neighborhood (Uptown) is wild and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Denver, be prepared for the culture shock. traffic is completely different here. And Limited public transit options.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

I've been living here for 5 years and I'd say it's not perfect but it works for me. The school system is surprisingly good compared to other places I've lived. Overall Good luck with whatever you decide..
