Highland job market vs Houston

Curious what people think. Median household income is $77,886, which feels about average for the area. You can expect to pay around $776 for rent here. The unemployment rate is 1.4%, which is pretty low. With a population of 10,268, Highland is a small town. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. The weather takes some getting used to. Has anyone dealt with this? The food scene here is surprisingly good. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. It's not perfect, but the community is solid.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value housing market, you'll love it. The outdoor recreation is genuinely tough and I've found I love the pace of life here. My neighborhood (Westside) is affordable and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Denver, be prepared for the culture shock. housing market is completely different here. And Property taxes are high.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.
