Housing market in Highland right now

I'm a college student here and Poverty rate is 5.3%, which is pretty low. The unemployment rate is 1.4%, which is pretty low. Household incomes average around $95,696 in Highland. The food scene here is surprisingly good. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus.

Pros:
- Great weather
- Close to nature
- Low taxes
- Easy commute
- Lots of new development

Cons:
- Cold winters
- Limited nightlife
- Limited dining options
- Homelessness issues downtown
Is this normal for Highland? There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Property taxes are high but you get good services. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. The city has invested a lot in new development. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. The food scene here is surprisingly good. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods.

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Bought a house here in 2023 and I genuinely enjoy living here. Property values have gone about the same since then.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 4-bedroom. it's been a really good experience overall. Compared to Portland it's average.

Weather-wise, the summers are underrated and winters are manageable. You get used to it after the first year.

I've been living here for 3 years and I'd say it's exactly what I was looking for. The job market is challenging compared to other places I've lived. Overall Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Public transit is hit or miss here. You'll probably need a car for most things. I'm still on the fence after all this time.
