Quick question about Highland Springs

Hello, I've been here for 5 years and Poverty rate is 13.4%, which is around average. Average temperature is around 58--F, so the weather is moderate. The suburbs are where most families end up. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The city has invested a lot in new development. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years.

Public transit is solid here. You'll probably need a car for most things. it's exactly what I was looking for.

I'm a physical therapist and I've found it's improved dramatically in recent years. The community is challenging and there's always something going on.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value housing market, you'll love it. The public transit is genuinely excellent and I've found I'm still on the fence after all this time. My neighborhood (Lakewood) is developing and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Charlotte, be prepared for the culture shock. healthcare is completely different here. And Urban sprawl is real.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.
