Not sure if this has been asked before, but We're a young couple and Rent is about $2,100/month for a decent place. Homes are going for about $846,900 on average. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The city has invested a lot in new development. The city has invested a lot in new development. The suburbs are where most families end up. I'd say it's better for families than young singles.

Used to live on the West side, now on the Fairview side. Completely different vibe. the quality of life is solid.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 4-bedroom. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Compared to Dallas it's underrated.

I've lived in Meadowbrook for about 12 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. When I first moved here from Seattle, I was surprised by dating scene. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Good schools in most areas
- Four distinct seasons
- The healthcare scene is average
The downsides:
- Nightlife is limited
- Homeless population growing downtown
Overall I'd rate it 9/10 for couples. Good luck with whatever you decide..

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.
Background: I'm a sales manager, 45, moved here 2 years ago from Houston. I've lived in West and Maple Ridge, and traveled to most parts of the metro.
**What I love:**
1. Growing food and restaurant scene
2. Active local events and festivals
3. Four distinct seasons
4. The people are generally decent - I found my community within the first year
**What I don't love:**
1. Rising rent and home prices
2. Bugs and humidity in summer
3. The outdoor recreation situation is pricey and doesn't seem to be improving
**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- West: Great for singles. hit or miss vibes, walkable.
- Maple Ridge: More affordable, family-friendly.
**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.
**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Houston, everything felt better than expected. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are stable. Gas is pricey. You can live comfortably on $60K-$90K here.
**Final verdict:**
Definitely worth checking out.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

Hot take but it's improved dramatically in recent years. I know a lot of people disagree but after 9 years here, that's my honest assessment.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 10 years ago from Chicago and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Uptown. It's improving for what you get.
Jobs: The market is competitive right now, especially in legal. If you're in engineering you might struggle.
People: Generally average. It took about 12 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: solid. Tons of options if you like Asian.
Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 11 years ago from Tampa and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Lots of new construction which should help. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Old Town. It's improving for what you get.
Jobs: The market is wild right now, especially in consulting. If you're in engineering you might struggle.
People: Generally underrated. It took about 6 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: decent. Tons of options if you like seafood.
