Hillcrest vs Raleigh -which is better?

Hey, Median household income is $44,954, which feels on the lower side for the area. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The weather takes some getting used to. Worth the trade-offs? Any help is appreciated. The food scene here is surprisingly good. The food scene here is surprisingly good. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. The food scene here is surprisingly good.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. it's been a really good experience overall. Internet is improving in most areas.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a lawyer who relocated here from Boston about 9 years ago. The main reasons were cost of living and retirement.

Pros I've experienced:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Lots of new development happening

Cons that are real:
- Nightlife is limited
- Urban sprawl is real

Financially, we've found it pretty good compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are competitive, gas is better than expected.

Socially, I'm still on the fence after all this time. It's not for everyone but it works for us..
