Remote worker thinking about Hillcrest

Been meaning to ask this. I'm a nurse at the local hospital and Rent is about $1,197/month for a decent place. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Am I overthinking this? There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years.

Public transit is challenging here. You'll probably need a car for most things. I love the pace of life here.

Came here for retirement and stayed because I'm still on the fence after all this time. The cultural scene is honestly decent and I don't see that changing anytime soon.
