Considering Hillcrest Heights vs Austin -help me decide

Hello, Military spouse here. The median home value here is around $340,500, which seems about average. Household incomes average around $77,696 in Hillcrest Heights. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Am I wrong here? It's not perfect, but the community is solid. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood.

I've lived in Highland for about 12 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it's improved dramatically in recent years. When I first moved here from Salt Lake City, I was surprised by cultural scene. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Active local events and festivals
- The housing market scene is challenging

The downsides:
- Rising rent and home prices
- Dating scene is rough

Overall I'd rate it 7/10 for couples. Good luck with whatever you decide..

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. it was the best decision I ever made. Internet is pretty good in most areas.

I work in retail here and I love the pace of life here. The job market for my field is tough. Feel free to reach out with questions..

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, it's not perfect but it works for me. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

I've lived in Meadowbrook for about 7 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it's exactly what I was looking for. When I first moved here from Salt Lake City, I was surprised by outdoor recreation. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Good healthcare facilities
- The healthcare scene is underrated

The downsides:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Not a lot of cultural diversity

Overall I'd rate it 9/10 for retirees. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..
