Hi all, My partner and I are Median household income is $48,158, which feels on the lower side for the area. With a population of 5,693, Hillsboro is a small town. Poverty rate is 3.4%, which is pretty low. Rent is about $841/month for a decent place. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Thoughts? Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. The suburbs are where most families end up. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 13 years ago from San Diego and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Older homes are where the value is. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in East. It's better than expected for what you get.
Jobs: The market is competitive right now, especially in retail. If you're in retail you might struggle.
People: Generally improving. It took about 13 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: surprisingly good. Tons of options if you like Italian.
Feel free to reach out with questions..

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 4-bedroom. it's not perfect but it works for me. Compared to San Francisco it's underrated.

Hot take but it's exactly what I was looking for. I know a lot of people disagree but after 7 years here, that's my honest assessment.
