Remote worker thinking about Hillsboro

I'm originally from Charlotte and Average temperature is around 53--F, so expect cold winters. Household incomes average around $103,207 in Hillsboro. Property taxes are high but you get good services. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Any help is appreciated. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The city has invested a lot in new development. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want walkability, then yeah this place is great. But if nightlife matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

I'm a social worker and I've found it exceeded my expectations. The community is average and there's always something going on.

Public transit is challenging here. You'll probably need a car for most things. I love the pace of life here.

Bought a house here in 2020 and it's improved dramatically in recent years. Property values have gone up significantly since then.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are excellent, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

The food scene here is improving. Tons of great Asian places. I have mixed feelings honestly.

I've lived in Pine Hills for about 6 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. When I first moved here from Boston, I was surprised by cost of living. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Lots of new development happening
- The healthcare scene is improving

The downsides:
- Nightlife is limited
- Chain restaurants dominate

Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for families. Definitely worth checking out..
