What's it really like living in Hillsboro?
Longtime lurker here, I've been here for 11 years and Crime rate is something to consider -Hillsboro sits at 247.9 per 100K. Poverty rate is 5.6%, which is pretty low. The unemployment rate is 3.3%, which is pretty low. Homes are going for about $483,400 on average. The weather takes some getting used to. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. The city has invested a lot in new development. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years.
Pros:
- Affordable cost of living
- Good schools
- Diverse community
- Good healthcare facilities
Cons:
- Hot summers
- Rising rent prices
- High property taxes
- Boring for young people
- Limited cultural events
Looking forward to hearing from you all. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable.
