Working remotely from Hillsboro — my experience

I've been working remotely from Hillsboro for 14 years now. Here's my take:

The pace of life here is perfect for remote work. No crazy commute stress, affordable living, and enough amenities to not feel isolated.

Cost of living: pretty reasonable
Internet: Decent, getting better with new providers
Coworking spaces: Growing number of options

If you're looking for a place to WFH, Hillsboro is underrated for remote workers.

I've lived in Northside for 7 years and it's still one of the best decisions I made.

My kids love it here. So many parks and activities. So many outdoor activities.

I work in tech and finding a job wasn't hard. Took about 6 months.

Coming from Phoenix, the cost of living difference is noticeable. Groceries and gas are slightly more expensive but housing makes up for it.

I'd add that healthcare options are better than most cities this size. Otherwise spot on!

Can confirm the safety issue. But it really depends on the neighborhood. Maple Heights and Lakewood are perfectly safe.

Traffic is the worst part honestly. But if you live near work it's fine.

Rent tip: look for places in winter. Prices drop and there's more availability.

Don't sleep on Eastside. It's up and coming and still affordable.

Check out the University District area. Way more affordable and still close to everything.

As someone who moved here from Chicago, I can confirm most of this. The friendliness of people surprised me the most.

Respectfully disagree about the job market. In my experience, it's been pretty safe in my area.
