Hello, It's a a small town city with about 11,122 people. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. The city has invested a lot in new development. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value healthcare, you'll love it. The nightlife is genuinely decent and I've found it was the best decision I ever made. My neighborhood (Riverside) is reasonable and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Austin, be prepared for the culture shock. nightlife is completely different here. And Not very walkable outside downtown.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a pharmacist who relocated here from Phoenix about 1 years ago. The main reasons were my partner's job and school.
Pros I've experienced:
- Strong job market in several industries
- Diverse dining options
- Lots of family-friendly activities
Cons that are real:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Homeless population growing downtown
Financially, we've found it tough compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are growing, gas is decent.
Socially, I genuinely enjoy living here. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

I've been living here for 13 years and I'd say it's exactly what I was looking for. The housing market is excellent compared to other places I've lived. Overall Good luck with whatever you decide..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem surprisingly good.
I've been here 2 years and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The thing nobody mentions is job market. It's stable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the community vibe is legit. And if you're into biking, this place is challenging.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Oak Park side vs the Greenfield side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Would recommend to anyone considering it..
