Curious what people think. I'm a 46-year-old restaurant manager and The median home value here is around $2,000,001, which is pretty steep. Crime rate is something to consider -Hillsborough sits at 43.4 per 100K. Median household income is $250,001, which feels pretty solid for the area. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. The food scene here is surprisingly good. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. The suburbs are where most families end up.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a real estate agent who relocated here from Chicago about 2 years ago. The main reasons were family and cost of living.
Pros I've experienced:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Affordable housing options
- Strong sense of community
Cons that are real:
- Limited high-paying job options
- Not a lot of cultural diversity
Financially, we've found it average compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are developing, gas is underrated.
Socially, it was the best decision I ever made. Happy to answer more specific questions..

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 2-bedroom. it was the best decision I ever made. Compared to San Francisco it's surprisingly good.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 14 years ago from Miami and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Older homes are where the value is. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in Greenfield. It's excellent for what you get.
Jobs: The market is manageable right now, especially in engineering. If you're in construction you might struggle.
People: Generally decent. It took about 11 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: challenging. Tons of options if you like craft beer.
Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

I'm a electrician who relocated here from LA about 7 years ago. The main reasons were retirement and a job opportunity.
Pros I've experienced:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Decent public transit for the size
- Four distinct seasons
Cons that are real:
- Limited shopping options
- Dating scene is rough
Financially, we've found it solid compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are competitive, gas is challenging.
Socially, it was the best decision I ever made. No regrets on my end..
