Thinking about relocating to Hillsdale from Phoenix

Longtime lurker here, Born and raised here. Poverty rate is 2.9%, which is pretty low. The median home value here is around $656,800, which is pretty steep. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. What are your go-to spots? It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The city has invested a lot in new development. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The suburbs are where most families end up. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The city has invested a lot in new development. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods.

We moved here with our family and it's improved dramatically in recent years. Schools in Fairview area are underrated. Kids love it here.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a marketing manager, 53, moved here 8 years ago from Miami. I've lived in Westside and Eastside, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Good internet infrastructure
2. Diverse dining options
3. Strong sense of community
4. The people are generally surprisingly good - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Rising rent and home prices
2. Limited shopping options
3. The weather situation is manageable and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Westside: Great for couples. improving vibes, walkable.
- Eastside: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Miami, everything felt solid. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are wild. Gas is pricey. You can live comfortably on $50K-$140K here.

**Final verdict:**
Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.
