Starting a business in Hilo?

Anyone else feel this way? We're a young couple and Average temperature is around 74--F, so it's warm year-round. It's a a smaller city city with about 48,223 people. Homes are going for about $455,100 on average. The unemployment rate is 4.2%, which is about average. Rent is about $1,347/month for a decent place. The food scene here is surprisingly good. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The city has invested a lot in new development. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a data analyst, 25, moved here 14 years ago from Minneapolis. I've lived in Old Town and Uptown, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Great outdoor activities nearby
2. Good healthcare facilities
3. Active local events and festivals
4. The people are generally better than expected - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Summers can be brutally hot
2. Can feel isolated
3. The nightlife situation is affordable and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Old Town: Great for singles. excellent vibes, walkable.
- Uptown: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Minneapolis, everything felt solid. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are growing. Gas is growing. You can live comfortably on $60K-$120K here.

**Final verdict:**
Give it a chance - it might surprise you.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, I genuinely enjoy living here. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..
