Thinking about relocating to Hinesville from San Diego

Hey, I'm a nurse at the local hospital and Median household income is $59,216, which feels about average for the area. Household incomes average around $59,216 in Hinesville. The unemployment rate is 4.9%, which is about average. Crime rate is something to consider -Hinesville sits at 469.2 per 100K. Average temperature is around 68--F, so the weather is moderate. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Anyone in a similar situation? Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The weather takes some getting used to. The suburbs are where most families end up. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value healthcare, you'll love it. The public transit is genuinely surprisingly good and I've found it was the best decision I ever made. My neighborhood (South) is stable and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Baltimore, be prepared for the culture shock. safety is completely different here. And Property taxes are high.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are challenging, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

As someone who grew up here, I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. A lot has changed in the past few years though. food scene used to be much affordable but now it's decent.
