Hoboken is underrated, change my mind

Random thought, We're a young couple and The median home value here is around $872,100, which is pretty steep. The unemployment rate is 2.8%, which is pretty low. Crime rate is something to consider -Hoboken sits at 147.3 per 100K. Median household income is $176,943, which feels pretty solid for the area. The city has invested a lot in new development. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Let me know your thoughts. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The weather takes some getting used to. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The suburbs are where most families end up. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a electrician, 50, moved here 10 years ago from Charlotte. I've lived in North and Midtown, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Low crime in most neighborhoods
2. Close to major attractions
3. Affordable housing options
4. The people are generally challenging - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Summers can be brutally hot
2. Urban sprawl is real
3. The nightlife situation is pricey and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- North: Great for young professionals. excellent vibes, walkable.
- Midtown: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Charlotte, everything felt excellent. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are developing. Gas is stable. You can live comfortably on $100K-$90K here.

**Final verdict:**
Good luck with whatever you decide.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

Bought a house here in 2017 and I love the pace of life here. Property values have gone about the same since then.

I've been living here for 2 years and I'd say the quality of life is solid. The weather is tough compared to other places I've lived. Overall Happy to answer more specific questions..
