Hey folks, Been living here since 2014. The median home value here is around $872,100, which is pretty steep. Homes are going for about $872,100 on average. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The city has invested a lot in new development. What do you all think? Thanks for reading. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value dating scene, you'll love it. The weather is genuinely better than expected and I've found I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. My neighborhood (Oak Park) is established and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Miami, be prepared for the culture shock. healthcare is completely different here. And Winters are long and cold.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

I've lived in The Heights for about 11 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
it's not perfect but it works for me. When I first moved here from Nashville, I was surprised by cultural scene. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Good schools in most areas
- Diverse dining options
- The traffic scene is surprisingly good
The downsides:
- Summers can be brutally hot
- Not a lot of cultural diversity
Overall I'd rate it 7/10 for remote workers. Hope this helps!.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.
Background: I'm a project manager, 54, moved here 9 years ago from Boston. I've lived in Uptown and Meadowbrook, and traveled to most parts of the metro.
**What I love:**
1. Lots of new development happening
2. Strong sense of community
3. Lots of family-friendly activities
4. The people are generally pretty good - I found my community within the first year
**What I don't love:**
1. Urban sprawl is real
2. Property taxes are high
3. The housing market situation is manageable and doesn't seem to be improving
**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Uptown: Great for retirees. excellent vibes, walkable.
- Meadowbrook: More affordable, family-friendly.
**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.
**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Boston, everything felt underrated. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are competitive. Gas is manageable. You can live comfortably on $60K-$110K here.
**Final verdict:**
Hope this helps!. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

If you value outdoor recreation, you'll love it. The traffic is genuinely surprisingly good and I've found it was the best decision I ever made. My neighborhood (Highland) is manageable and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Austin, be prepared for the culture shock. cultural scene is completely different here. And Traffic during rush hour is rough.

We moved here with our family and I'm still on the fence after all this time. Schools in Fairview area are challenging. Kids love it here.

Bought a house here in 2018 and I'm still on the fence after all this time. Property values have gone about the same since then.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want nightlife, then yeah this place is great. But if pet-friendliness matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

I've been living here for 4 years and I'd say it exceeded my expectations. The food scene is solid compared to other places I've lived. Overall Feel free to reach out with questions..
