Best kept secrets of Hockessin, DE

Random thought, Homes are going for about $550,200 on average. Poverty rate is 1.2%, which is pretty low. Crime rate is something to consider -Hockessin sits at 356.4 per 100K. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. What neighborhoods would you suggest? The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. The suburbs are where most families end up. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. I'd say it's better for families than young singles.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a teacher who relocated here from Baltimore about 8 years ago. The main reasons were a job opportunity and family.

Pros I've experienced:
- Decent public transit for the size
- Lots of new development happening
- Four distinct seasons

Cons that are real:
- Limited public transit options
- Limited high-paying job options

Financially, we've found it average compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are competitive, gas is average.

Socially, the quality of life is solid. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem solid.

I've been here 3 years and it's exactly what I was looking for. The thing nobody mentions is community vibe. It's developing and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the healthcare is legit. And if you're into photography, this place is decent.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Midtown side vs the North side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Happy to answer more specific questions..

We moved here with our family and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Schools in South area are better than expected. Kids love it here.
