Rent in Hockessin getting crazy

Alright, With a population of 13,608, Hockessin is a small town. Average temperature is around 53--F, so expect cold winters. Crime rate is something to consider -Hockessin sits at 356.4 per 100K. The median home value here is around $550,200, which is pretty steep. The suburbs are where most families end up. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Thanks in advance! Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. The weather takes some getting used to. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. I'd say it's better for families than young singles.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 15 years ago from Minneapolis and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in West. It's average for what you get.

Jobs: The market is growing right now, especially in legal. If you're in government you might struggle.

People: Generally pretty good. It took about 12 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: average. Tons of options if you like Asian.

Good luck with whatever you decide..

I work in consulting here and it's improved dramatically in recent years. The job market for my field is challenging. No regrets on my end..
