First time home buyer in Hoffman Estates

I'm originally from St. Louis and Homes are going for about $340,400 on average. You can expect to pay around $1,764 for rent here. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The city has invested a lot in new development.

I work in education here and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The job market for my field is pretty good. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

I've lived in Old Town for about 14 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. When I first moved here from Portland, I was surprised by school system. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Good schools in most areas
- Lots of new development happening
- The job market scene is better than expected

The downsides:
- Rising rent and home prices
- Homeless population growing downtown

Overall I'd rate it 5/10 for couples. Happy to answer more specific questions..
