Is Holbrook worth it salary-wise?

So, The median home value here is around $436,500, which is pretty steep. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value cultural scene, you'll love it. The nightlife is genuinely tough and I've found I genuinely enjoy living here. My neighborhood (Uptown) is established and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Baltimore, be prepared for the culture shock. walkability is completely different here. And Nightlife is limited.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want weather, then yeah this place is great. But if pet-friendliness matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in Oak Park for 11 years. Moved from Portland for family. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is surprisingly good. We bought in 2019 at k and it's now worth up a bit than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 2-bed in a safe area. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts.

**Employment:**
marketing is strong here. finance is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are affordable for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
the quality of life is solid. The outdoor scene is improving - we have beaches within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Oak Park schools are improving. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Nightlife is limited. Limited shopping options. And housing market can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For couples, I'd say this is a 6/10. Feel free to reach out with questions.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

Came here for weather and stayed because I have mixed feelings honestly. The pet-friendliness is honestly hit or miss and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Weather-wise, the summers are average and winters are pricey. You get used to it after the first year.

I've lived in Springfield for about 1 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it's exactly what I was looking for. When I first moved here from LA, I was surprised by pet-friendliness. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Good healthcare facilities
- Lots of new development happening
- The school system scene is solid

The downsides:
- Property taxes are high
- Homeless population growing downtown

Overall I'd rate it 9/10 for couples. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 1 years ago from Raleigh and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Fairview. It's better than expected for what you get.

Jobs: The market is competitive right now, especially in marketing. If you're in consulting you might struggle.

People: Generally challenging. It took about 11 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: hit or miss. Tons of options if you like farm-to-table.

Feel free to reach out with questions..

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. it's been a really good experience overall. Internet is decent in most areas.
