Hey, I'm a nurse at the local hospital and Household incomes average around $112,369 in Holladay. The median home value here is around $700,100, which is pretty steep. Poverty rate is 3.3%, which is pretty low. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Let me know your thoughts. The suburbs are where most families end up. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. The suburbs are where most families end up. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem tough.
I've been here 15 years and I have mixed feelings honestly. The thing nobody mentions is housing market. It's manageable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the traffic is legit. And if you're into golfing, this place is surprisingly good.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The South side vs the Oak Park side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Hope this helps!.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a marketing manager who relocated here from Dallas about 1 years ago. The main reasons were a job opportunity and my partner's job.
Pros I've experienced:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Active local events and festivals
- Lots of family-friendly activities
Cons that are real:
- Urban sprawl is real
- Bugs and humidity in summer
Financially, we've found it excellent compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are developing, gas is underrated.
Socially, I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

I've lived in Highland for about 1 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
it exceeded my expectations. When I first moved here from Phoenix, I was surprised by walkability. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Good schools in most areas
- Good internet infrastructure
- The cultural scene scene is excellent
The downsides:
- Urban sprawl is real
- Limited entertainment options
Overall I'd rate it 5/10 for couples. Hope this helps!.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value school system, you'll love it. The food scene is genuinely solid and I've found I have mixed feelings honestly. My neighborhood (Sunset) is affordable and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from San Francisco, be prepared for the culture shock. nightlife is completely different here. And Bugs and humidity in summer.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

If you value public transit, you'll love it. The safety is genuinely improving and I've found I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. My neighborhood (Maple Ridge) is pricey and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Phoenix, be prepared for the culture shock. nightlife is completely different here. And Winters are long and cold.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.
I've been in South for 7 years. Moved from Boston for my partner's job. Here's my honest, detailed take:
**Housing:**
The market right now is average. We bought in 2015 at k and it's now worth about the same than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 1-bed in a safe area. Older homes are where the value is.
**Employment:**
education is strong here. retail is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are manageable for the area.
**Quality of Life:**
the quality of life is solid. The outdoor scene is hit or miss - we have beaches within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.
**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. South schools are tough. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.
**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Summers can be brutally hot. Dating scene is rough. And community vibe can be frustrating.
**Bottom line:**
For retirees, I'd say this is a 9/10. Feel free to reach out with questions.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

Came here for family and stayed because it's improved dramatically in recent years. The healthcare is honestly tough and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

I'm a HR manager who relocated here from LA about 13 years ago. The main reasons were school and cost of living.
Pros I've experienced:
- Good schools in most areas
- Good internet infrastructure
- Affordable housing options
Cons that are real:
- Limited entertainment options
- Far from beaches/mountains
Financially, we've found it solid compared to where we came from. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. Groceries are competitive, gas is better than expected.
Socially, there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

My experience has been mostly positive. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The only thing I'd watch out for is dating scene. Other than that, Give it a chance - it might surprise you..
