Rent in Holladay getting crazy

I'm a remote worker and You can expect to pay around $1,653 for rent here. The weather takes some getting used to. Am I wrong here? Thanks!

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem decent.

I've been here 4 years and there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The thing nobody mentions is nightlife. It's stable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the public transit is legit. And if you're into biking, this place is solid.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Uptown side vs the Cedar Grove side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Public transit is better than expected here. You'll probably need a car for most things. I'm still on the fence after all this time.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a accountant who relocated here from Salt Lake City about 9 years ago. The main reasons were cost of living and quality of life.

Pros I've experienced:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Good healthcare facilities
- Strong job market in several industries

Cons that are real:
- Road conditions need improvement
- Limited entertainment options

Financially, we've found it improving compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are established, gas is excellent.

Socially, I genuinely enjoy living here. Definitely worth checking out..
