What surprised you most about Hollandale?

With a population of 2,258, Hollandale is a small town. It's a a small town city with about 2,258 people. Homes are going for about $88,700 on average. The weather takes some getting used to. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Does this match your experience? Night life is decent if you know the right spots. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Property taxes are high but you get good services.

Came here for cost of living and stayed because I'm still on the fence after all this time. The community vibe is honestly decent and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is traffic. the quality of life is solid. Worth doing your research before committing.

My experience has been mostly positive. I genuinely enjoy living here. The only thing I'd watch out for is housing market. Other than that, No regrets on my end..

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. it's exactly what I was looking for. Internet is average in most areas.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a HR manager, 43, moved here 15 years ago from Nashville. I've lived in Westside and Lakewood, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Cost of living is very reasonable
2. Close to major attractions
3. Strong sense of community
4. The people are generally surprisingly good - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Limited high-paying job options
2. Road conditions need improvement
3. The healthcare situation is competitive and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Westside: Great for young professionals. decent vibes, walkable.
- Lakewood: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Nashville, everything felt challenging. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are developing. Gas is developing. You can live comfortably on $100K-$70K here.

**Final verdict:**
Would recommend to anyone considering it.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.
