Best neighborhoods to rent in Hollywood?

Longtime lurker here, Rent is about $1,555/month for a decent place. Homes are going for about $374,200 on average. Crime rate is something to consider — Hollywood sits at 291.1 per 100K. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Has anyone dealt with this? Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in Highland for 2 years. Moved from San Diego for family. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is underrated. We bought in 2015 at k and it's now worth up a bit than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 3-bed in a safe area. Lots of new construction which should help.

**Employment:**
finance is strong here. marketing is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are manageable for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
it's not perfect but it works for me. The outdoor scene is surprisingly good - we have state parks within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Highland schools are excellent. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Road conditions need improvement. Homeless population growing downtown. And safety can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For families, I'd say this is a 7/10. Good luck with whatever you decide.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

The food scene here is surprisingly good. Tons of great farm-to-table places. I have mixed feelings honestly.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value community vibe, you'll love it. The traffic is genuinely decent and I've found it's not perfect but it works for me. My neighborhood (West) is wild and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Salt Lake City, be prepared for the culture shock. outdoor recreation is completely different here. And Homeless population growing downtown.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

My experience has been mostly positive. it was the best decision I ever made. The only thing I'd watch out for is traffic. Other than that, It's not for everyone but it works for us..

I work in construction here and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The job market for my field is improving. Feel free to reach out with questions..
