Is Hollywood getting better or worse?

So, I relocated for work and Average temperature is around 76°F, so it's warm year-round. Crime rate is something to consider — Hollywood sits at 291.1 per 100K. Median household income is $65,359, which feels about average for the area. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. It's changing fast — some good, some not so much. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable.

Pros:
- Good schools
- Diverse community
- Good healthcare facilities
- Good airport connections

Cons:
- Cold winters
- Sprawl everywhere
- Mosquitoes and humidity
What do you all think? People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. The city has invested a lot in new development. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. The food scene here is surprisingly good. The city has invested a lot in new development. Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a project manager who relocated here from Phoenix about 15 years ago. The main reasons were work and my partner's job.

Pros I've experienced:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Decent public transit for the size
- Good airport with direct flights

Cons that are real:
- Nightlife is limited
- Chain restaurants dominate

Financially, we've found it challenging compared to where we came from. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. Groceries are competitive, gas is surprisingly good.

Socially, the quality of life is solid. Happy to answer more specific questions..

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a real estate agent, 57, moved here 9 years ago from Chicago. I've lived in Sunset and Fairview, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Four distinct seasons
2. Good airport with direct flights
3. Strong sense of community
4. The people are generally excellent - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Limited public transit options
2. Limited shopping options
3. The job market situation is reasonable and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Sunset: Great for retirees. better than expected vibes, walkable.
- Fairview: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Chicago, everything felt pretty good. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are pricey. Gas is wild. You can live comfortably on $100K-$120K here.

**Final verdict:**
Give it a chance - it might surprise you.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 2-bedroom. I love the pace of life here. Compared to Dallas it's solid.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is dating scene. I'm still on the fence after all this time. Worth doing your research before committing.

I've been living here for 15 years and I'd say there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The job market is pretty good compared to other places I've lived. Overall It's not for everyone but it works for us..

We moved here with our family and I'm still on the fence after all this time. Schools in West area are tough. Kids love it here.
