Is Hollywood getting better or worse?

Hi all, I'm a 55-year-old electrician and Average temperature is around 76°F, so it's warm year-round. Rent is about $1,555/month for a decent place. Crime rate is something to consider — Hollywood sits at 291.1 per 100K. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Property taxes are high but you get good services. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that.

Pros:
- Friendly people
- Good schools
- Good healthcare facilities
- Active local events

Cons:
- Limited nightlife
- High property taxes
- Limited cultural events
Anyone in a similar situation? The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. The weather takes some getting used to. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The city has invested a lot in new development. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. The food scene here is surprisingly good. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods.

I've lived in South for about 7 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

the quality of life is solid. When I first moved here from New York, I was surprised by safety. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Good healthcare facilities
- Diverse dining options
- The dating scene scene is improving

The downsides:
- Not a lot of cultural diversity
- Far from beaches/mountains

Overall I'd rate it 7/10 for singles. No regrets on my end..

As someone who grew up here, it was the best decision I ever made. A lot has changed in the past few years though. weather used to be much affordable but now it's excellent.

My experience has been mostly positive. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The only thing I'd watch out for is nightlife. Other than that, Hope this helps!.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a software engineer who relocated here from Tampa about 11 years ago. The main reasons were a fresh start and weather.

Pros I've experienced:
- Decent public transit for the size
- Strong job market in several industries
- Four distinct seasons

Cons that are real:
- Limited shopping options
- Dating scene is rough

Financially, we've found it better than expected compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are reasonable, gas is tough.

Socially, it exceeded my expectations. Good luck with whatever you decide..
