Is Hollywood still affordable?
Anyone else feel this way? I'm originally from Indianapolis and You can expect to pay around $1,555 for rent here. Crime rate is something to consider — Hollywood sits at 291.1 per 100K. Household incomes average around $65,359 in Hollywood. Homes are going for about $374,200 on average. The median home value here is around $374,200, which seems about average. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. It's changing fast — some good, some not so much. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years.
Pros:
- Great weather
- Good schools
- Lots of new development
- Good internet infrastructure
- Plenty of shopping options
Cons:
- Cold winters
- Limited nightlife
- Sprawl everywhere
- High property taxes
- Mosquitoes and humidity
Does this match your experience? I'd say it's better for families than young singles. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. The suburbs are where most families end up. The weather takes some getting used to. It's changing fast — some good, some not so much. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. It's changing fast — some good, some not so much. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. The food scene here is surprisingly good.
