Bought a house here in 2019 and I love the pace of life here. Property values have gone down slightly since then.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 4 years ago from Raleigh and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Older homes are where the value is. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Downtown. It's underrated for what you get.

Jobs: The market is wild right now, especially in manufacturing. If you're in legal you might struggle.

People: Generally excellent. It took about 4 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: solid. Tons of options if you like seafood.

Good luck with whatever you decide..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a HR manager who relocated here from Charlotte about 14 years ago. The main reasons were school and school.

Pros I've experienced:
- Strong job market in several industries
- Good internet infrastructure
- Four distinct seasons

Cons that are real:
- Summers can be brutally hot
- Nightlife is limited

Financially, we've found it surprisingly good compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are developing, gas is hit or miss.

Socially, I have mixed feelings honestly. Definitely worth checking out..
