Worst things about Hollywood nobody talks about

I'm a remote worker and Median household income is $65,359, which feels about average for the area. Poverty rate is 9.6%, which is pretty low. With a population of 153K, Hollywood is a mid-size city. Crime rate is something to consider — Hollywood sits at 291.1 per 100K. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Property taxes are high but you get good services. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Thoughts? Any help is appreciated. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The suburbs are where most families end up. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem hit or miss.

I've been here 12 years and it's not perfect but it works for me. The thing nobody mentions is job market. It's stable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the housing market is legit. And if you're into photography, this place is tough.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Highland side vs the Lakewood side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

No regrets on my end..

I work in marketing here and I have mixed feelings honestly. The job market for my field is solid. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..
