Planning a move to Holt -neighborhoods?

Curious what people think. I'm a remote worker and It's a a smaller city city with about 25,275 people. Median household income is $87,827, which feels pretty solid for the area. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Should I be concerned? TIA!

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value safety, you'll love it. The walkability is genuinely average and I've found I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. My neighborhood (Uptown) is developing and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Minneapolis, be prepared for the culture shock. dating scene is completely different here. And Limited public transit options.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

As someone who grew up here, I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. A lot has changed in the past few years though. walkability used to be much manageable but now it's challenging.

I work in healthcare here and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The job market for my field is hit or miss. No regrets on my end..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a HR manager who relocated here from LA about 7 years ago. The main reasons were a job opportunity and cost of living.

Pros I've experienced:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Active local events and festivals
- Four distinct seasons

Cons that are real:
- Not very walkable outside downtown
- Dating scene is rough

Financially, we've found it excellent compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are established, gas is underrated.

Socially, it's been a really good experience overall. No regrets on my end..

Weather-wise, the summers are hit or miss and winters are manageable. You get used to it after the first year.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a writer who relocated here from Nashville about 8 years ago. The main reasons were cost of living and school.

Pros I've experienced:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Decent public transit for the size
- Strong job market in several industries

Cons that are real:
- Limited public transit options
- Not very walkable outside downtown

Financially, we've found it decent compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are developing, gas is underrated.

Socially, it exceeded my expectations. Definitely worth checking out..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 2 years ago from Dallas and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Lots of new construction which should help. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in The Heights. It's solid for what you get.

Jobs: The market is affordable right now, especially in construction. If you're in tech you might struggle.

People: Generally average. It took about 10 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: surprisingly good. Tons of options if you like sushi.

Happy to answer more specific questions..

Came here for work and stayed because it exceeded my expectations. The pet-friendliness is honestly better than expected and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is walkability. I'm still on the fence after all this time. Worth doing your research before committing.
