Is public transit usable in Holyoke?

Hey folks, I'm a nurse at the local hospital and The unemployment rate is 3.9%, which is pretty low. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. What are your go-to spots? Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Property taxes are high but you get good services.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a software engineer who relocated here from Tampa about 7 years ago. The main reasons were work and a fresh start.

Pros I've experienced:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Good internet infrastructure
- Active local events and festivals

Cons that are real:
- Limited public transit options
- Summers can be brutally hot

Financially, we've found it decent compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are affordable, gas is tough.

Socially, it's not perfect but it works for me. Happy to answer more specific questions..
