Things that make Home Gardens unique

Curious what people think. I'm single, late 30s, and Median household income is $92,344, which feels pretty solid for the area. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Has anyone dealt with this? I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Property taxes are high but you get good services. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem challenging.

I've been here 1 years and it exceeded my expectations. The thing nobody mentions is healthcare. It's growing and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the cultural scene is legit. And if you're into running, this place is decent.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The North side vs the Oak Park side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

No regrets on my end..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 13 years ago from Dallas and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Older homes are where the value is. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in North. It's average for what you get.

Jobs: The market is developing right now, especially in construction. If you're in hospitality you might struggle.

People: Generally hit or miss. It took about 3 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: tough. Tons of options if you like Mediterranean.

Would recommend to anyone considering it..

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is cost of living. it's exactly what I was looking for. Worth doing your research before committing.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 15 years ago from Nashville and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Riverside. It's excellent for what you get.

Jobs: The market is affordable right now, especially in tech. If you're in retail you might struggle.

People: Generally better than expected. It took about 16 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: improving. Tons of options if you like Asian.

Definitely worth checking out..

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is traffic. I have mixed feelings honestly. Worth doing your research before committing.

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, it's not perfect but it works for me. Good luck with whatever you decide..
