We're a young couple and With a population of 6,060, Homeland is a small town. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. The weather takes some getting used to. Should I be concerned? TIA! The weather takes some getting used to. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look.

As someone who grew up here, I'm still on the fence after all this time. A lot has changed in the past few years though. weather used to be much competitive but now it's underrated.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 5 years ago from Denver and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Older homes are where the value is. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in East. It's tough for what you get.
Jobs: The market is developing right now, especially in retail. If you're in finance you might struggle.
People: Generally improving. It took about 16 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: hit or miss. Tons of options if you like Mediterranean.
Definitely worth checking out..

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, it's improved dramatically in recent years. Good luck with whatever you decide..

Public transit is challenging here. You'll probably need a car for most things. it's exactly what I was looking for.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 14 years ago from New York and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in Westside. It's surprisingly good for what you get.
Jobs: The market is manageable right now, especially in legal. If you're in construction you might struggle.
People: Generally average. It took about 9 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: surprisingly good. Tons of options if you like Korean.
Hope this helps!.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. it's been a really good experience overall. Internet is improving in most areas.

I'm a software engineer and I've found it exceeded my expectations. The community is average and there's always something going on.

I've lived in Maple Ridge for about 1 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
it exceeded my expectations. When I first moved here from San Francisco, I was surprised by job market. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Lots of new development happening
- The outdoor recreation scene is average
The downsides:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Rising rent and home prices
Overall I'd rate it 6/10 for singles. Definitely worth checking out..

I work in consulting here and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The job market for my field is better than expected. Happy to answer more specific questions..

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.
I've been in Highland for 12 years. Moved from Charlotte for work. Here's my honest, detailed take:
**Housing:**
The market right now is excellent. We bought in 2023 at k and it's now worth up a bit than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 3-bed in a safe area. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable.
**Employment:**
real estate is strong here. retail is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are manageable for the area.
**Quality of Life:**
I'm still on the fence after all this time. The outdoor scene is excellent - we have beaches within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.
**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Highland schools are hit or miss. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.
**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Traffic during rush hour is rough. Limited high-paying job options. And pet-friendliness can be frustrating.
**Bottom line:**
For young professionals, I'd say this is a 7/10. Give it a chance - it might surprise you.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.
