Homes are going for about $189,600 on average. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Am I overthinking this?

Bought a house here in 2015 and I genuinely enjoy living here. Property values have gone down slightly since then.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are hit or miss, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 8 years ago from Austin and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Cedar Grove. It's challenging for what you get.
Jobs: The market is reasonable right now, especially in hospitality. If you're in consulting you might struggle.
People: Generally tough. It took about 18 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: decent. Tons of options if you like sushi.
Hope this helps!.

Public transit is better than expected here. You'll probably need a car for most things. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a writer who relocated here from San Diego about 11 years ago. The main reasons were family and my partner's job.
Pros I've experienced:
- Decent public transit for the size
- Active local events and festivals
- Diverse dining options
Cons that are real:
- Limited high-paying job options
- Limited shopping options
Financially, we've found it underrated compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are stable, gas is excellent.
Socially, I love the pace of life here. Good luck with whatever you decide..
