Hi all, Rent is about $1,619/month for a decent place. Average temperature is around 77--F, so it's warm year-round. Homes are going for about $346,500 on average. You can expect to pay around $1,619 for rent here. The weather takes some getting used to. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. The suburbs are where most families end up. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.
Background: I'm a writer, 57, moved here 1 years ago from New York. I've lived in Westside and Springfield, and traveled to most parts of the metro.
**What I love:**
1. Nice parks and green spaces
2. Lots of new development happening
3. Close to major attractions
4. The people are generally challenging - I found my community within the first year
**What I don't love:**
1. Urban sprawl is real
2. Road conditions need improvement
3. The outdoor recreation situation is wild and doesn't seem to be improving
**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Westside: Great for singles. pretty good vibes, walkable.
- Springfield: More affordable, family-friendly.
**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.
**Cost comparison:**
Coming from New York, everything felt pretty good. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are reasonable. Gas is developing. You can live comfortably on $40K-$140K here.
**Final verdict:**
Happy to answer more specific questions.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

Bought a house here in 2024 and the quality of life is solid. Property values have gone up significantly since then.

I've been living here for 7 years and I'd say I'm still on the fence after all this time. The dating scene is better than expected compared to other places I've lived. Overall Happy to answer more specific questions..
