Anyone else love living in Homewood?

Alright, I'm a nurse at the local hospital and Poverty rate is 3.7%, which is pretty low. The city has invested a lot in new development. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much.

Hot take but I'm still on the fence after all this time. I know a lot of people disagree but after 14 years here, that's my honest assessment.

I've been living here for 5 years and I'd say it exceeded my expectations. The safety is solid compared to other places I've lived. Overall It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Weather-wise, the summers are improving and winters are manageable. You get used to it after the first year.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a lawyer who relocated here from Dallas about 6 years ago. The main reasons were a fresh start and work.

Pros I've experienced:
- Good schools in most areas
- Lots of new development happening
- Lots of family-friendly activities

Cons that are real:
- Limited high-paying job options
- Far from beaches/mountains

Financially, we've found it surprisingly good compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are manageable, gas is excellent.

Socially, it's not perfect but it works for me. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Hot take but it's improved dramatically in recent years. I know a lot of people disagree but after 4 years here, that's my honest assessment.

The food scene here is hit or miss. Tons of great craft beer places. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now.
