OK so I'm a teacher here and Household incomes average around $58,773 in Hondo. Rent is about $1,163/month for a decent place. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. What do you all think? People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a electrician who relocated here from San Diego about 11 years ago. The main reasons were family and family.
Pros I've experienced:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Decent public transit for the size
- Good airport with direct flights
Cons that are real:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Road conditions need improvement
Financially, we've found it average compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are wild, gas is better than expected.
Socially, it's been a really good experience overall. Definitely worth checking out..

We moved here with our family and I have mixed feelings honestly. Schools in East area are surprisingly good. Kids love it here.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are pretty good, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.
