Hey, I grew up here but left for a while. Crime rate is something to consider -Honeygo sits at 1,338.5 per 100K. The median home value here is around $463,500, which is pretty steep. Median household income is $144,156, which feels pretty solid for the area. Poverty rate is 0.9%, which is pretty low. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. The food scene here is surprisingly good. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting.
Pros:
- Affordable cost of living
- Nice parks and trails
- Low taxes
- Good internet infrastructure
Cons:
- Sprawl everywhere
- Limited dining options
- Not enough green space
Should I be concerned? Looking forward to hearing from you all. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Night life is decent if you know the right spots.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a marketing manager who relocated here from San Francisco about 8 years ago. The main reasons were quality of life and my partner's job.
Pros I've experienced:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Four distinct seasons
Cons that are real:
- Winters are long and cold
- Limited shopping options
Financially, we've found it excellent compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are stable, gas is better than expected.
Socially, it's exactly what I was looking for. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 9 years ago from Nashville and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in Old Town. It's solid for what you get.
Jobs: The market is manageable right now, especially in government. If you're in hospitality you might struggle.
People: Generally pretty good. It took about 8 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: average. Tons of options if you like Mediterranean.
Good luck with whatever you decide..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 2 years ago from Tampa and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Lots of new construction which should help. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Maple Ridge. It's better than expected for what you get.
Jobs: The market is developing right now, especially in retail. If you're in hospitality you might struggle.
People: Generally tough. It took about 5 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: improving. Tons of options if you like BBQ.
No regrets on my end..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem challenging.
I've been here 7 years and I have mixed feelings honestly. The thing nobody mentions is walkability. It's affordable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the food scene is legit. And if you're into fishing, this place is challenging.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Maple Ridge side vs the Eastside side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Would recommend to anyone considering it..
