Moving to Hooper -what should I know?
Not sure if this has been asked before, but Would love some local perspective.

Came here for weather and stayed because I have mixed feelings honestly. The walkability is honestly average and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem better than expected.
I've been here 14 years and there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The thing nobody mentions is weather. It's reasonable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the cost of living is legit. And if you're into mountain biking, this place is hit or miss.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The West side vs the North side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want traffic, then yeah this place is great. But if outdoor recreation matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 12 years ago from LA and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Lots of new construction which should help. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Sunset. It's surprisingly good for what you get.
Jobs: The market is competitive right now, especially in construction. If you're in healthcare you might struggle.
People: Generally decent. It took about 11 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: hit or miss. Tons of options if you like Mediterranean.
